Boat Harderwijk rents electric boats from the waterfront at Harderwijk, out onto the Veluwemeer, the islands and the harbour - no licence required. The fleet is small: a Crossover 33 and an AluShip E-Tender for up to eight and six people, and a classic Spitgat Polar sloep alongside them.
A company this size does not come with existing photography or printed material. I shot the boats on the water and built the brochures they hand to a guest before they cast off.
A rental boat is judged before anyone has stepped aboard it. There was no photograph to judge it by - nothing showing what the boats actually looked like underway, or what a couple of hours out on the Veluwemeer actually felt like.
And the pitch is specifically no licence needed. A picture that made the boats look complicated or technical would have undercut the one thing that makes this an easy yes.
Shot on the water across two sessions, each boat underway rather than tied up at the jetty - the Crossover on the canal and out on the open Veluwemeer, the classic sloep with its skipper standing at the helm. Deck and cushion details filled in what the wide shots couldn’t: the leather, the teak, a drink poured aboard.
The same photographs then became the brochure, so what a guest is handed on the day is the same boat they saw before they booked.
The fleet now has photography and printed material where it had none - the two things a small rental company is judged on before anyone has booked.
