AIC Visser supplies Dutch construction and infrastructure sites, and has done since 1956. In 2026 they started a magazine of their own: Doorbouwen, planned twice a year, covering what’s moving in the sector and what’s changing inside the company.
They asked for the photography that would introduce it: the cover, and a portrait of Iris van der Sterre, who runs the company.
Everything was shot on a working site rather than in a studio, and in the company’s own kit: the orange hi-vis, the black sweatshirts, the branded helmet, the hoarding standing behind.
The weather did the rest. A heavy overcast sky sits behind every frame and the figures are lit against it, which keeps them hard-edged and the ground flat. The cover line says the same thing out loud - Koud, guur donker? Komt goed.

The quality amazed me. It is so good it almost looks AI generated.
